NDT coming to Sydney

Hot from the Dance Australia website:

‘Sydney Opera House has announced that Nederlands Dans Theatre (NDT) will be gracing its Joan Sutherland Theatre in June 2013.  It will be the first time that the company has performed in Sydney in twelve years.’

The program hasn’t yet been published, so stay tuned. The current program on the NDT site has two of Jirí Kylián’s works from the Black&White series: Sarabande and Sweet Dreams. The NDT site also says that this program will be recorded and broadcast in cinemas worldwide, so, like Move to Move, this may also be shown in Australia.

Below there is a video trailer of a work in the current NDT program. Other trailers are available on the NDT Youtube channel.

Terrain | Bangarra Dance Theatre.

New work by internationally acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre. Commissioned by Artistic Director, Stephen Page and choreographed by Frances Rings.

A quote from the Bangarra Dance Theatre website:

Described as a hymn to country, TERRAIN transports us to Lake Eyre the place of Australia’s inland sea: one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world. Bangarra explores the relationship of Indigenous people to country and how landscape becomes a second skin.
