‘Sydney Opera House has announced that Nederlands Dans Theatre (NDT) will be gracing its Joan Sutherland Theatre in June 2013. It will be the first time that the company has performed in Sydney in twelve years.’
The program hasn’t yet been published, so stay tuned. The current program on the NDT site has two of Jirí Kylián’s works from the Black&White series: Sarabande and Sweet Dreams. The NDT site also says that this program will be recorded and broadcast in cinemas worldwide, so, like Move to Move, this may also be shown in Australia.
Below there is a video trailer of a work in the current NDT program. Other trailers are available on the NDT Youtube channel.

Mao’s Last Dancer, Li Cunxin has been appointed to the Queensland Ballet as its new Artistic Director. In interviews he has talked about how excited he is to step back into the ballet world after a career in stockbroking. “I would like Queensland Ballet to become one of the most dynamic, vibrant and high-standard ballet companies in the world,” Li said. “I think it’s going to be a very hard road . . . To attain that standard it will really require several years’ work at least.”
He will focus on his classical ballet roots in his new role. “I think classical ballet is always the most challenging technically and artistically,” he said. “The dancers are going to grow, mature and be very challenged by these ballets.”
